Eating beef is not right and I wonder where are those “some Vedas” which allow Hindus to do so. Please keep in mind that there were and still are vested interest who want to weaken Hindus and who used wrong translations and interpolations of the ancient texts to make Hindus ashamed of their tradition. Many Hindus believed those translations, including big names.
I grew up in the west and there, we were indoctrinated by Christian tenets (and Muslims by Islamic tenets) that nature including animals is there to serve man who is considered ‘the crown of creation”. The result is a brutal bloodbath all over the world with billions animals slaughtered daily worldwide (alone in US around 100,000 cows daily!) Each single one dying a painful death, often skinned while still alive. It is considered “normal”.
Do we have the moral right to do this? Now even in the west some started reflecting and came to the conclusion that we don’t have the right.
Hindu Dharma requires using one’s intelligence. It is not a fixed belief system, like Christianity and Islam.
The Indian rishis realised that a cow particularly is like a mother, gentle and giving. Everything the cow gives is useful, including its urine and dung. Her nature is satvic, pure. Who would kill her? Who would kill any animal unless necessary for some compelling reasons?
Humanity would be more human and ecology would also benefit greatly if this massive brutal slaughter were at least reduced if not fully stopped.
In this 20 minutes video below the actor Tom Alter, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 67, explains beautifully, interspersed with chanting of the relevant shlokas, what the Vedas say about animal slaughter and eating beef. It settles the issue once for all: There is no beef in the Vedas.
